Hello Forum
I am new here but have been using Open Office 2.4 for a month or so now. Goodbye Microsoft Office. This program is so much better and has a lot more content.
My problem is when I open writer it takes 20 or so seconds to load. None of my other programs take more than 2 seconds or so. Can anyone tell me why, or how to speed it up?
I also cannot check for updates. Everytime I try it says update connection failed. Any reason or fix for this?
Can anyone tell me what is new in 2.4.1 over 2.4?
Thanks Dale

Re: Slow Loading / Won't Check Updates
Just bugfixes. At the moment you might as well wait for 3.0 to come out, in the latter half of this month.Nor_Cal_Dale wrote: Can anyone tell me what is new in 2.4.1 over 2.4?

Re: Slow Loading / Won't Check Updates
One good reason for the start delay is OOo trying to check if there is a new version. I always disable the "search for updates" option on Tools -> Options -> OpenOffice.org -> Internet updates.
