[Solved] Slow Loading / Won't Check Updates

Post by Nor_Cal_Dale »

Hello Forum

I am new here but have been using Open Office 2.4 for a month or so now. Goodbye Microsoft Office. This program is so much better and has a lot more content.

My problem is when I open writer it takes 20 or so seconds to load. None of my other programs take more than 2 seconds or so. Can anyone tell me why, or how to speed it up?

I also cannot check for updates. Everytime I try it says update connection failed. Any reason or fix for this?

Can anyone tell me what is new in 2.4.1 over 2.4?

Thanks Dale

Just bugfixes. At the moment you might as well wait for 3.0 to come out, in the latter half of this month.

One good reason for the start delay is OOo trying to check if there is a new version. I always disable the "search for updates" option on Tools -> Options -> OpenOffice.org -> Internet updates.
