Can not access documents

Post by Scotto58 »

Hi everyone,

I have several documents I created/saved in Calc and Writer and when I try to open them it says "access denied" :(
Can anyone tell me why this is happening. This is a recent issue as I have been able to access them before. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Scott

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Try this thread: [Solved] Permission to open denied.
LibreOffice may be a good bet.

If that doesn't work try this search: Access Denied.

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the button if your issue has been fixed.

Sure about this?
Windows 7 is end-of-life since 2020.

Could you please attach a screenshot so we can see the folder location in Windows Explorer?

Go to the folder(s) in which you have Saved these documents, enable "Viewing of hidden files" (words to that effect, a folder setting) and see are there hidden lock files.

If so, with OpenOffice closed, delete those lock files. Beware, they have a similar name to the original files, but are very much smaller, a matter of a few hundred bytes, whereas the original files will be at least several kilobytes.
