[Solved] Rotate scanned image without choppy results
I use Draw to rotate my slanted scanned pages, but the result is always 'choppy' - smooth/straight lines become zig-zag and everything has a chunky appearance. Is there a way to fix this?

Re: Rotate without choppy results?
Draw is not the correct tool to use for this task. A scanner will produce a raster graphics image. But Draw is a vector graphics tool.
You should look at Comparison of vector graphics editors and Comparison of raster graphics editors. ImageMagick or GIMP may be what you need. Some of the editors are free; some need to be purchased or rented. Some of the free software is very good, but keep in mind that the revenue for the others allows their them to pay for development teams to implement new features.
If this solved your problem please go to your first post use the Edit button and add [Solved] to the start of the subject field. Select the green checkmark icon at the same time.

Note that rendering is not very good on screen but the quality should be checked on the output. Thus, export the result as PDF and see if the quality remains different.
To rotate a pic, indeed you need Draw (Writer can do that directly with LibreOffice). For this kind of operation that doesn't change the quality of the pic, not sure an image editor is worth it.
Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the ✎ button if your issue has been fixed.

Interesting ... I didn't know it was that complicated! I'll have to do more research, and thanks for the links, they'll save a lot of time. I'll take a look at ImageMagick and GIMP, also.MrProgrammer wrote: ↑Mon Oct 27, 2025 2:18 amDraw is not the correct tool to use for this task. A scanner will produce a raster graphics image. Re: Rotate scanned image without choppy results
Thanks for the PDF trick! I tried exporting to pdf, and it did seem a tiny bit smoother, I think. That's good to know. I was hoping to get a rotated image that I can copy, and paste back into the original png file, but maybe Ill have to give up on that. ... Re: Rotate scanned image without choppy results
Using Draw makes sense only to use the file in an AOO document.
If you want to modify your png file, then use an image editor.
