.rtfファイルの文字化けについて

初めまして、フォーラム内を検索しても見当たらなかったので投稿いたします。

Windows7環境のワードパッドで作成した文章ファイル(.rtf)をopen officeで開き、上書き保存すると文字のエンコード情報？が
破損してしまうようで、次回以降に開くと文字化けしてしまいます。

この事象について何か解決策はあるのでしょうか。また、既知の不具合として認識されているものなのでしょうか。
