Forum Layout
Forum Layout
Well, as you can not doubt notice I have been working on the layout of the columns for the index pages.
The problem was with the word Posts being to long for the default layout in he phpBB theme - what I have here is definitely not correct, but at least the strings in the last two column titles do not over lap at 1024 X 768 - so I am going to take a break and come back to this a little later - after I work on it on my test machine and see if I can't get these sizes correct.
Currently the change was confined to a single CSS file, but as I see now I will also need to make a change to one or two of the html template files also, as one of the CSS classes is used for different purposes on different screens ( by default the three classes topics, posts and LastPost are all equal in size so that wouldn't be a problem, but as I am not make each slightly different in relative size..well, I have to find where they got lazy and correct it )
I should have something new up later this evening, my time - should be early morning Eastern European time
While - I am on the subject - Is there any other parts of the board where there is a problem with similar problems?
Thanks
Drew

Re: Forum Layout
I find Current time and Last visit: time format I cannot change in Admin site.
In Hungary we use ISO format: YYYY MM DD d, How could I change that settings, or its needs to chang in other site.
I just started to figure out how to create new forums, approve new users etc.
I think I could submit mailing list annoucment on starting forum.
Thanks,
Zoltan

Re: Forum Layout
First about the layout - I just made a couple of more tweaks - It looks like it works to me, but I did have to change the right hand column to 'right justify' - let me know how that works for everyone.
Other wise I cut the size of the Posts column back down, but still 2% larger then in the default configuration.
Also, needed to introduce a new CSS class "replies" so that the topic list view is now in harmony with the forum list view.
As for date formats - changed the format - is it correct now?
Finally - regarding an annoucement..well I can leave that up to you - I had the ideas of Contacting Louis Potts-Swartz, with a CC to you and the HU NL lead ( sorry his name escapes me as I type this ) and asking Louis if he would like to make an announcment on the full mailing lists - but in the end if if your guys' call.

Re: Forum Layout
Half correct:As for date formats - changed the format - is it correct now?
1. when I go to forum without logging in, on index page show correct format.
2. when I logged in the date format the old one.
If it cause not so much delay, I think better make coordinated announcement with OOo marketing team, than simply announcing it hu mailinglist only. Finally - regarding an annoucement..well I can leave that up to you - I had the ideas of Contacting Louis Potts-Swartz, with a CC to you and the HU NL lead ( sorry his name escapes me as I type this ) and asking Louis if he would like to make an announcment on the full mailing lists - but in the end if if your guys' call.
ps. Andras Timar HU NL lead

Re: Forum Layout
The date format can be controlled on a per user account - the seeing is found in your User Control Panel.
It appears that when you create an account the current board setting is copied into your user account setting to start off - so when your account was created it picked up the old format.
You will need to change to the current format, or any variation you like, new accounts should pick up the format you see when you are not logged in. The format options are those used in the php format date function and the actual format string I set the board to use is:
Y m d D, g:i a
