[Solved] N/A error on vlookup
I'm trying to do a pretty basic vlookup in the attached file, but keep getting a #N/A and I can't for the life of me figure out why. Can anyone help?

Your question is about VLOOKUP, but your formula uses HLOOKUP.

Re: N/A error on vlookup
I just checked ... it doesn't. It says VOPSLAG (which is the same as VLOOKUP in danish)
Are you telling me that it should be HLOOKUP?

In the LibreOffice you can switch between the Localized and the English function names.
I just tested your attachment in my LO 6.1.6, and I can see the English function name HLOOKUP() in the cell E5.

Re: N/A error on vlookup
Check again - it comes through to me as HLOOKUP; when I change the H to V, all seems OK.

HLOOKUP VOPSLAG Looks in the top row of an array and returns the value of the indicated cell
VLOOKUP LOPSLAG Looks in the first column of an array and moves across the row to return the value of a cell

Re: N/A error on vlookup
Hi, and welcome to the forum.
You should also review [Tutorial] VLOOKUP questions and answers Q19/A19 or you may encounter further #N/A errors.
If this solved your problem please go to your first post use the Edit button and add [Solved] to the start of the title. You can select the green checkmark icon at the same time.
As explained above, you need to use VLOOKUP instead of HLOOKUP because you want to perform your search vertically down a column (VLOOKUP). HLOOKUP searches horizontally across a row.papdronning wrote:I'm trying to do a pretty basic vlookup in the attached file, but keep getting a #N/A and I can't for the life of me figure out why.

Re: N/A error on vlookup
Reason:
H from Horizontal - in Danish "Vandret", so H becomes V.
VOPSLAG() = HLOOKUP()
V from Vertical - in Danish "Lodret", so V becomes L.
LOPSLAG() = VLOOKUP()
