[Solved] The character and paragraph boxes won't open

After downloading the 2.3.1 version the character and paragraph boxes will no longer open. When selected, the document freezes as if there is a dialogue box open but nothing is on the screen. Pressing esc activates the document again. I am running vista home premium and have had no issues with earlier versions. I have tried uninstalling and reloading the program but the problem persists.

They're probably just off-screen where you can't see them. Open the Character dialog box with Format > Character. Press ALT+SPACE to activate the dialog box's context menu which should appear near the edge of the screen where the dialog box is hiding. Click Move on the context menu then press the appropriate arrow key to move the dialog box back on-screen. Repeat the procedure for each missing dialog box.
