[Solved] Inserted images rotate 90 degrees
[Solved] Inserted images rotate 90 degrees
Insert Picture and Drag-and-Drop both used to work OK, but now portrait-format images are rotated through 90 degrees. Landscape images are fine. I've upgraded to OOo 4.1.5 but the problem persists. There is no facility in Open Office Writer to rotate images that I can find, and rotating various ways before inserting makes no difference to the end result. I'm using Windows 10.

Re: Inserted images rotate 90 degrees
Welcome to the forum.
The image files contain the rotation information and it needs to be changed. Open the image file with a graphics editor like IrfanView and rotate appropriately. Save the image. Insert the saved image.
See [Tutorial] Some useful hints on using images for a discussion on how best to handle images in Writer.
See [Tutorial] Differences between Writer and MS Word files for why you should always work in and save files as .odt.
As a new poster you will find much useful information in the Writer FAQ, the Writer Tutorials, the up to date Writer guide and the Writer Manual. May I suggest you bookmark the pages.

Also good to crop your images in the graphics editor before bringing then into OpenOffice.

Re: [Solved] Inserted images rotate 90 degrees
You can also rotate an image in Draw and copy the rotated image back to Writer where it keeps the Draw applied rotation.
Strangely, you can rotate an "image copied from Draw" in Writer by right-clicking the image > Position and size > Rotation ..., and set the angle. Presumably it brings in the rotate attribute from Draw and therefore you have access to changing it.
