[Solved] Different input languages

Post by micki-b »

Welcome beginner. What is your question or comment?
Please try to briefly and clearly tell us: What you want, What you tried, and What happened.
I need to be able to switch my OO to russian language so i can make russian worksheets for my class. I installed the english version of oo and also tried to install ru and pl (russian and polish) but those versions just said (in their respective languages) that oo was already installed and it doesn't go any further. I tried to switch to russian under tools-options-language like it says to in the help section but the keys still come up in english. I understand that i need to install language packs but the problem is this: I can find a polish language pack and even other cyrillic based languages but NO russian at all! so, since this is the language that i need the most do i uninstall the oo-english version and try to reinstall the russian language version or is there a russian language pack that i am not seeing somewhere? would appreciate whatever help i can get from you.

You don't need the Russian version or the Russian language pack to type in Russian. You need to change keyboards. See my post here:

I cannot find any Russian language packs for MS Windows though Linux versions do seem available on the major Linux depositories.

Another solution, download Russian portable version, it can be used from any removable drive.

Another trick, Russian keyboard is different from latin based keyboards. For see keyboard use under winXP, on screen keyboard, from Accessories>Supplemental possibilities (I translated from HU Win Start menu, it may be wrong in wording).
