You can automatize this task with the extension 'Images embedder')How do I save a document with the images in the document?

(Use .png type pictures with optimized dpi and physical size values and with optimized color depth.)

Re: [Solved] Save with images
hey guys, i have heard that libreoffice save the images automatically into the document.
But AOO last version isnt doing that, so maybe i am missing some feature ?
I know that exist the extension 'images embedder', but if exist a better and confortable way to do it natively on AOO.... ?
Of course i meant that without to have to break links 1 per 1.

Re: [Solved] Save with images
It depends on how you insert the pictures into the document. If you linked them only, the LibreOffice will not force to embed them automatically.hey guys, i have heard that libreoffice save the images automatically into the document.
Use the Insert - Image menu item and make sure, if the Link option is unchecked. The default is the Unchecked state in the LibreOffice 5.4.2:

Re: [Solved] Save with images
i am referring the fact that drag and drop a web content. Just saving directly that document, the images keep into by default in libreoffice.
AOO hasnt that behaviour, not as far as i know. And the break links feature, isnt the same. That requires to break 1 per 1 all the img links, and we want to do all in a single operation, obviously.

Re: [Solved] Save with images
Never, NEVER use that method! Always download the pictures onto your HDD, optimize them by a third party software:i am referring the fact that drag and drop a web content.
- reduce the color depth, the DPI resolution to a approppriate value (the paper based and the display-view textual documents not request huge resolutions and millions of the discrete colors),
- change the format if it is necessary (the AOO/LO not prefer the .bmp and some other pformats. Use the .png, .gif format for lineart, vectorgraphic type pictures, and the .jpg for the photos...
And then insert the pictures into your document with the regular method: Insert - Picture - From file.

Re: [Solved] Save with images
Breaking links to embed image data is not a one-by-one process. You can select all the links and break them in one pass.
Still. I agree, it is more convenient to make this the default behavior when pasting web content, even though it is more "correct" to paste the link only.
PS: Embedding the images comes with its own problems. I'm not sure that convenience should be the most important factor to consider here.

Read the Tutorial for why you should not do this.arfgh wrote:i am referring the fact that drag and drop a web content..
Your signature says OpenOffice last version, which is meaningless. Apache OpenOffice, AOO and Libre OpenOffice, LO are two very different products - please update your signature to say which you are using.

Re: [Solved] Save with images
The "why you should not do this" doesnt matter, for obvious reasons. The usability. The useful that is that feature.
I know what the tutorial is referring, we dont want .bmp file types embed into the .odt, but that isnt happening here. If i drag and drop web content with jpg files, jpg files are the ones that are being embedding. The .bmp appears when drag and drop an explicit image over writer. In that case yes, the file type is .bmp.
So i dont see the problem with it. The most curious on this, why the 'image embedder' isnt available anymore... In the case of libreoffice the images embedding is the default action, but what about AOO ?
OpenOffice last version is just that, AOO 4.1.4 just now.

Re: [Solved] Save with images
Apache OpenOffice is what you mean - OpenOffice could be either AOO or LO (and, indeed, OOo and other forks of OOo).arfgh wrote:OpenOffice last version is just that, AOO 4.1.4 just now.
From the Tutorial, If you have linked images, or want to check whether any images are linked, go Edit > Links ..., which shows which images are linked and allows you to break the link(s) and embed the image(s) in the document.arfgh wrote:i am referring the fact that drag and drop a web content. Libre Office and Apache Open Office are completely different products written by completely different people and there is no contact between the two groups. Each group decides what it wants in its program. Both LO and AOO started from the same base (OOo) but they are now diverging widely - they are not, and never will be, the same.arfgh wrote:The most curious on this, why the 'image embedder' isnt available anymore... There are two totally different products. One is called Apache OpenOffice. The other is called Libre OpenOffice. If you say OpenOffice we do not know which you mean. The advice given for Apache OpenOffice may well be different from the advice given for Libre OpenOffice.
Please tell us - How are we expected to know if you are running Apache OpenOffice or Libre OpenOffice?

The last OpenOffice(.org) version was the OO.o 3.3(b), then they renamed it to Oracle OpenOffice (OOO).OpenOffice last version
Here an interesting chart about the relation of the StarOffice, OpenOffice.org, Apache OpenOffice, LibreOffice, and the other related open source office suite sofwares.
