[Solved] Copy relatively formula in a Writer table
[Solved] Copy relatively formula in a Writer table
I have used OO for 10+ years with excellent results. And I also create many docs that contain simple tables with rows/columns of numbers. I create simple =sum formulas for each row. But I was wondering if it was possible to copy and past a formula cell to another cell or series of cells and have the formulas adjust relatively? I cannot seem to find this feature so perhaps it doesn't exist? But before I give I I'd like to know if its possible and if so, how?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Can a formula in a table cell be copied relatively in wr
Did you try it? I'm pretty sure this is the default behavior for formulas in a table.
If you tried it and it didn't do what you wanted, maybe you can describe what steps you followed, what formula you're using (copy/paste it here), and what happened that was different than what you expected.

Re: Can a formula in a table cell be copied relatively in wr
Thanks for the quick request.
My table(s) are multi column multi row.
If I focus the cursor on a particular cell then key =sum( then drag my mouse from the adjacent cell across to the ending cell, release then press Enter it works.
Next if I block the contents of the cell where I just placed the formula and press Ctrl+c and them place the cursor into the cell below (the next row) and press ctrl+v is will place the numeric content of the source cell (not the formula but the calculated content.
This is what is troubling me. Hope this makes sense.
Thanks

Re: Can a formula in a table cell be copied relatively in wr
The procedure for copying a formula in Writer is not obvious. After the formula is in place in the original cell, click and hold on the cell, drag down to the next cell and then back up so that the entire cell is highlighted. Copy and paste will now transfer the formula.

Not obvious is an understatement! So thank you VERY much for that tidbit. Worked like a charm. It'll never foil me again.
