[Solved] Paste from Email

Post by rsmittysmith »

Every time I try to copy an Email and try to paste it in Openoffice, it skips the first page, prints only what will fit on the second page, then adds a third blank page. I am about to pull what little hair I have left out. HELP!

Instead of plain "paste", try Edit > Paste Special > "Unformatted text"

Is that what you want?

I have a slightly different problem. I'm trying to paste from email into a page with columns. The text won't wrap so only about half of it is visible within the column. I've tried both "paste" and "paste special." What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Your email may have text in a table. People use all kinds of strange ways to layout web pages and HTML email; a whole lot of it just doesn't translate easily to a word processor document.

Try pasting the email first into a new Writer document. That may help you see what Writer is doing with it. You may be able to re-format it there before you copy it to your final layout, or you may need to select only a certain part of what carries over from the email.

It would be easier to be sure if you could post a sample.

You were right; it was in a table. I converted the table to text and now it's fine. Thanks.

And thanks, too, for offering this forum as a resource. I'm just getting started on Open Office and I really appreciate the assistance.
