[Solved] OO opening error code - writer, etc. on Win2k

Post by JamesSoCal »

[Solved] - and many thanks Hagar. I had not connected the problem with an extension.

JamesSoCal

Thanks in advance.

OO 2.4 updated, OS Win2000Pro, updated. ZoneAlarm (free version), updated, no other spyware or av software running normally. The error occurs if ZA is locked, locally, or not locked & if running with admin or user privileges.

Recently, not in the beginning, I have been experiencing an error when opening writer, calc & impress. So far these are all I have been using. The error messages are as follows,

"Error loaing BASIC of document file:///O:/Documents%20and%20Settings/User/Application%20Data/OpenOffice.org2
/user/uno_packages/cache/uno_packages/B8.tmp_/AltSearch.oxt/AltSearch/script.
xlb:

and

file:///O:/Documents%20and%20Settings/User/Application%20Data/OpenOffice.org2
/user/uno_packages/cache/uno_packages/B8.tmp_/AltSearch.oxt/AltSearch/dialog.
xlb:

General Error.
General input/output error.

The errors come up each time one of the above apps are loaded, unless one is already running. I also have a copy of Portable Apps on the machine with OO 2.0.4 running in PA and the problem does not occur with any of the three PA apps.

I have also run the reload/recovery portion of the install system to no avail. Runs with Spyware Terminator & AVG reveal nothing unusual present.

BTW these messages are new. OO has run cleanly since an early version of 1.0.

Thanks again for any assistance.

The extensions doesn't like very much the upgrades in fact. Try to remove the extension (AltSearch), close OOo and Quickstarter, start again and re-install if there is no more error message.

Thanks to add '[Solved]' at beginning of your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.
LibreOffice 25.2 on Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE 7 Gigi) and 24.8 portable on Windows 11.
