Downloaded 2nd language to Android tablet - not in selection

Post by TGIF77 »

Hi there,
I downloaded the German language pack but it's not in the selection in a text document. When I download again it notifies me that it's already there.
The file is called dict-de_de-1901_oldspell_2016-04-03.oxt.
When I click on it the tablet asks me whether to open as text file, image, audio, video. No exe.
What do I have to do?
Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum!

The extensions can be installed from AOO with the menu Tools>Extension manager, then Add.
But you need to run AOO first. Does it work on your Android tablet?

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the edit button if your issue has been fixed.

Thanks, Hagar. Well, I've done the download via the menu now again and have now two language packs (old and new spelling) visible in the Extension Manager. Still I can't select any one of them - there's only English offered either via ->tools->language or in the bottom frame line. Restarting or even rebooting the whole tablet didn't help. Any other idea? Thanks.

Better not using the status bar (bottom of the window). If you try to edit the paragraph style, do you see the languages? See [Troubleshooting] Spell check in OpenOffice.

nowhere a trace of German but occasionally English US pops up below English UK. That is unfortunately the only change.

Try to reset your OpenOffice user profile.
You may need to reinstall the German extension afterward.

THanks. And where can I find it on Android? The link is only about Windows, Linux and Mac.

I think for Android one has to use AndrOffice, which is not an official port of OO.

No idea. There should be somewhere in the folders a similar place. Try a search with 'autotext' for example, there should be such a folder in the profile.
NB: I take for granted that you indeed use AndrOffice.
