Hello,
OpenOffice "Writer" crashes when I scroll with the touchpad. I have an Asus laptop. I tried to change the touchpad setting in the control panel but it did not help. Could you help? I already submitted this topic but was unsuccessfull in getting an advise.
Thank you

Re: "Writer" crashes when I scroll with touchpad
Please have a look at this post in the Survival Guide to the Forum, and provide the requested details.
In the meantime, have you tried attaching a standard mouse to see if the same problem occurs? I use touchpads all the time, both peripherally on my docking stations and on the laptop itself. Never crashed once. But testing with a standard mouse could help determine whether there is in fact an incompatibility with the kind of touchpad you have (very hard to imagine, but I suppose it's possible) or whether it's a more general problem with the installation.
Usually the first course of action when you see such odd behavior is to run the installer again to "repair" the installation. Please remember to always disable any running antivirus or similar security programs, if you're on Windows, because these can interfere with the registry.
The second course of action is re-downloading and reinstalling OpenOffice, in case something was corrupted in the download.
The third course of action is researching online for known problems using Google or similar tools, and researching in the OOo IssueTracker to see if the problem has already been reported.
The fourth course of action is asking in a user forum, detailing the required two pieces of information as well as the steps you've already taken to try to resolve the problem (which you've sort of attempted to do, although I've no idea what you mean by "change the touchpad settings"; that's pretty vague... what settings would you see as applicable?).
The fifth course of action is filing a report in the issue tracker, if no solution can be found and the problem continues, especially if it is repeatable and/or verifiable by other users.
