Samsung 5 Android and OO Password Protected Files

I am having the following NEW problem and would appreciate any suggestions:

1) I routinely create and save password protected files in Word97etc and OpenOffice.
2) I use a Samsung 5 Android phone AND iDrive as my backup system.
3) When I access an OO password file via my phone and iDrive, the download will ask for the appropriate password and open the file BUT (with the exception of the heading with file name etc.) the screen is black!
4) These same files will open with no problems in other systems including IOS.
5) I read on the forum that there is no specific OO app for android use but that has not been an issue in the past and doesn't not SEEM to be related to this current problem. Being a .doc file it shouldn't be.
6) The files use to open as "read only" on the android phone and that is fine...they just don't open at all now.
7) ALL other type OO files (.doc) WILL open on the phone...only the password protected files fail.

Of course, iDrive says it is an OO and/or Android issue. But it has worked well before.

There are some very sharp people on this board and I would appreciate any suggestions you might have in finding a resolution.
