Cannot Install Sun calc template pack

Post by jkreme »

Welcome beginner. What is your question or comment?
Please try to briefly and clearly tell us: What you want, What you tried, and What happened.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I tried to install these sun calc files which are offered as a download on the extensions section of OpenOffice site. I downloaded the pack and whenever I try to open it the openoffice filter selection opens. I have tried Starcalc, opendoc spreadsheet, openoffice calc file types and invariably get a message that the file is corrupted. After repairing it, calc opens with an empty spreadsheet having the name of the file.

My operating system is mac osx 10.4.

Can someone tell me what I need to do to open these files.

Your help will be much appreciated.

You don't open an extension, you install it.

Go to Tools > Extension Manager > Add, and browse to your .oxt file. Things should be clear from there on.

The extension will install the templates in your template folder; you can then use them to create new documents through FIle > New > Templates and Documents.

Code: Select all

You don't open an extension, you install it.
The .oxt extension should be associated with "unopkg[.exe] gui" in OOo's program directory so it should be possible to "open" the package.
Please, edit this topic's initial post and add "[Solved]" to the subject line if your problem has been solved.

Ok, ok, you don't open an extension with OpenOffice... ;-)

Thanks for the explanation--good to know.
