[Solved] Chart x-axis data

Post by bobs1882 »

When selecting data for a chart, it also selects the row number and uses that data for the X-axis label. I want column A data for the X-axis label. How do I change the X-axis label data?

On the second step of the chart wizard there should be an option to select First Column as Label. It sounds like you are making a line chart. If both the x and y values are numeric, an xy scatter chart might be a better choice.

Thank you for starting me in the right direction. I also found that in step 3, If no location data is shown, click "Add" then "Y Axis" Two boxes show up in the right of the pane. The first is the range for the "Y Axis". If location not shown, click the button on the right side of the first box. Then with the mouse, select the range on the spreadsheet for the graph. Then, click on the button in the second box. This is the "Label" address box. Go to the spreadsheet and select the column cells with the label info. Releasing the mouse will put the label data in the box Then click next or finish to get back to the chart. Both the graph and label (X-Axis) should show on the graph.
