Hi! 30.07.2008
A friend of mine using Windows Vista and OpenOffice in the actual updated versions is writing a book in which the use of ancient letters, f.ex. ancient Greek and Hebrew, if possible also hieroglyphics are planned to be used in text and charts which is a must for the book to make sense. Sadly, we have no idea how to integrate/insert these into the text/charts.
We'd be absolutely thankful for any help or workaround to make this possible as it's a work if al lifetime.
Looking forward to your answers,
Matthis

OOo is quite capable of handling multi-lingual texts. OOo supports Unicode [wikipedia], which is capable of representing characters from every known language.

Unicode will handle the content (entering characters in the text), then all you need are fonts that contains the character images ("glyphs") for display and printing. These are readily available, as anyone writing about ancient languages needs them. Google can help you find where to get them.
