PDF fillable form as a spreadsheet

I would like to create fillable pdf forms, but have the fields as cells in a spreadsheet. I need to fill in columns of data on the forms and total those columns at the bottom of the form. I need to use pre-existing pdf forms instead of creating them myself. So I need to take existing forms and make them into fillable spreadsheet forms.

Is this even possible? And if so, how do you do it? Thanks.

Finding the sum of a column is a built-in function, called SUM. You should be able to use that in your spreadsheet.

lalithr312, I know how to do a Sum of columns. The question is, how do I superimpose a spreadsheet on top of a pdf form? In other words, make the pdf into a spreadsheet, with all the pretty stuff in the pdf form. That's what I need help with.

You might want to try Foxit PDF Reader. It has a Form to Spreadsheet function.

Interesting. Does it copy form data into a spreadsheet? How does it work? Does it dump all form values into one row of a new spreadsheet document?

@coderlen
PDF readers do not have a formula engine to interprete spreadsheet formulas. No software can have the capabilities of every other software. Such a PDF reader would require some spreadsheet prgram sharing its capability with the PDF reader so you could use a spreadsheet document in the first place.
