Calc is opening an excel file type in PDF format from a shared folder on my company's network? Is there a default setting within the Calc program that is causing this?

Calc does not open PDF files. Exactly what do you see when its open? Do you see gibberish or the proper file contents? Opening a PDF file in AOO will use Draw. Is the Excel file mislabeled?
