Ive downloaded the update have windows 10 operating system. Get as far as the install wizard then get Error 1500 "Another installation is in progress. You must complete that installation before continuing this one" Don't understand as I'm not doing anything else and as far as I can see nothing is updating on my computer. Have tried this a number of times and keep getting the same error message.

Restart your computer and try again.

I don't use Windows any more, so my advice here is based on some quick online research.

The error 1500 arises because the computer thinks two .msi installers are running at the same time. One of these is probably that for OpenOffice. Start TaskManager (Ctrl Shift Esc) and kill any soffice process shown on TM's Processes or Details tab. If you see an openoffice process, kill that also. This should have taken care of the OpenOffice install remnants. If you see some other application that is trying to run, you could try deleting this. Without access to your computer (and inspiration) I can only guess blindly what may be happening. it is possible that something like a Java updater is trying to run (name like jusched.exe). You could kill this (right click in TM) then exit TM and start OO installation.

Perhaps a better way is to remove any OpenOffice install traces (as above) exit TM and let any install or update that is prompted complete. Then restart computer and after it has finished any power-on update checks (again!) install OpenOffice.

As I said above, I don't use Windows (not since XP), so you may decide to wait for more current advice.

Thanks, you were right there was another program running in the background, once I'd identified it I was able to download the update.
