[Solved] Small caps

Post by ricklach »

In Writer Times New Roman small caps are available as an option for formatting. In Draw for the same font family small caps are not available. I am not certain why they would not be available - was this by design or does draw require a different font family? :knock: I have tried a few other font families and I do not see the feature anywhere.

There are more than one way to display small caps letters. The simpliest way is: Just use the real 'small caps' featured fonts.
There are free, or commercial small caps fonts. Here is a few of them (try it with enter a string "LibreOffice" with capitals into the white edit box) :

I suggest you to use Linux Libertine C:

Please, edit the initial post in the topic: add the word [Solved] at the beginning of the subject line - if your problem has been solved.

Nothing to do with the font. As far as I can see, this is just a design limitation: graphics text boxes do not support the full range of formatting options that are available in OO Writer text. Text boxes in Writer have the same limitation. I guess this is probably an artifact from the early years of OO development.

As Tibor has mentioned, you may be able to workaround it by using a font designed to provide small caps, or you can fake it with manual formatting (font size).

Thanks,
I did follow Tibor's suggestion and downloaded a new font that was as close as possible. I have made the changes that I needed. Thanks for the feedback - very much appreciated.
