:D gidday open office ppls,

my name is jules aka juby_suby. I have recently upgraded my o/s from Windows 8 to Windows 10, I am trying to access the letter wizard. I got a msg saying I needed to install Java runtime, I "googled" and came across a Java web site called Oracle and downloaded Java version 8 update 51. I restarted firstly Open Office and that was a no-go as I still got msg to install Java, then I did a computer restart but again a no go, I keep getting msg that I have to download Java. Can you offer some advice to a computer neophyte lol, blessings to all

As OpenOffice is a 32 bit application ?(perhaps running on 64 bit Windows) it must have a 32 bit Java. This can be downloaded from http://www.java.com and install alongside the existing 64 bit Java. the 32 bit Java versions will have 586 in their file name. Once installed on your computer, you must on next startup of OpenOffice. select that Java. Do this by (in OpenOffice) /Tools /Options /OpenOffice : Java and check the button beside the 32 bit Java. OpenOffice will now remember to use that, and all should be well.
