When I choose file, Send, Send Doc as email
I get "you have a defective setup".
Check "OO.o settings or email settings"

This is where I'm lost. What do I have to do to send my doc as an email.

As you might do with any other file from any other program. Just save it, then send as an attachment using your email program.
