[Solved] PDF character set for export or inport in the USA

I'm having a problem trying to save as a PDF I get a dialogue box that asks what character set and in the drop down menu but there is no character set for the USA. What character set should I choose for saving?

Which section of OpenOffice are you using?
I just tried Calc and Writer (seems like these are the two most popular options), and couldn't find PDF in the options listed in the Save As dialog.
There is the Export to PDF dialog, but I don't see a request to pick a character set.

It's the Writer and the dialogue box comes up after you have exported to PDF when you try to open it

You can't open a PDF with OpenOffice just export to PDF.

Thank you. I just figured that out if I right click the file and choose open with Adobe the file is insistently opened. Again thanks for your help
