[Solved] Does the 'Open in Design Mode' tool do anything?

Post by MikeytheMagnificent »

The 6th icon on the Form Design Toolbar (trysquare in yellow envelope) can be toggled on/off and saved.
But, afaics it makes no difference to anything in Base Forms. Everything just opens/edits as it always did!
Do you know different?? Please reply or comment
Perhaps it does something really useful in Writer or Calc, I just don't know. It not working isn't really un-inventing the wheel is it?
< rmb>edit>myform > works fine and allows simple loopback to < Open in Data Mode >

Many opportunities to add short Tutorials or faq's are missed

1. Must have obvious title to be found easily
2. Keep to objectives
3. Use very clear language
4. Difficult to get right
5. Rewards are few

Nothing important.
It works with stand-alone documents having forms. When you open a document where this option is set, the forms are in edit mode.

Thanx Villeroy, good knowledge, because 'standalone' itself could be a bit important because it could give an outsider access to tinker with your form. The tricky bit would be whether from there they could also tinker with its priveleges [OPDB and FPDB].
I remain unclear whether they could use that to trash the underlying data.
Still, until I first save some standalones.......

is a good place for others to start

Make the form document read-only.
Privileges belong to the database backend.
