Download reminder

Post by hunglaub »

Three times now I have downloaded the new version 2.4.1 and yet whenever I open any program I get the popup that a download is available. When I check help it shows in large letters OpenOffice 2.4 but in smaller print OpenOffice 2.4.1. My last effort was to uninstall the older version and when I loaded the new version I also registered again, but I still get the popup. Is anyone else having this problem. I can live with it, but how will I ever know when a true download is available?

If you go to Tools > Options >OpenOffice.org >Online Update, uncheck the Check for Updates Automitcally option.

This will stop the auto-checking and also make OOo load a bit faster. To know when there is an update available, check periodically on the OOo web site. They don't come out thick and fast, so you won't be missing anything. The next major upgrade is the 3.0 version which is in beta now and is expected around October-ish this year.

Please add [Solved] to the the start of the title of your first post (use the edit button) if your question has been answered.

If you're running Vista, see last comments, that should do the trick: keeps prompting "OOo update available".

Thanks to add '[Solved]' at beginning of your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.
