[Solved] Can We Add a Tag Other than [Solved] When Done?

If we discontinue a topic, before the question is answered, can we add a tag, such as [Canceled]?
There also may be cases where one just wishes to [Postpone] for a while.

The "tags" are (in theory) used to help other people that are searching for topics along the same line.
By including the "tag" [Solved], it allows people to search for their topic and restrict the results to other topics that have been solved.
Thus anything can be used as a "tag".

Sometimes I add [Closed] but as said by RusselB, if you find something more suitable, just use it.
Please keep it at the beginning of the title ant not too long so that it appears in the results of web searches (they usually display the beginning of the title page).

Thanks. My concern related to identifying that an issue was "solved", when in reality the topic was "abandoned" without a solution. It seems to me that the tag "Solution" should be limited to situations were a solution was found.

Usually the [Solved] is added by the Original Poster or by a Moderator when the OP indicates that a resolution has been arrived at. Unfortunately, posts are frequently tagged on to by others who are dissatisfied with (or often unable to apply) the achieved solution or workaround.
