I already noted this problem in another post, but there has been no response, so I will put it differently.
Saving and working with files as “file type Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP (.doc)” so they can be opened in Microsoft Word for Mac if needed and read by others using Word. However, now when attempting to open in Word I receive the message

“Word was unable to read this document. It may be corrupt. Try one or more of the following:
Open and Repair the file
Open the file with the Text Recovery converter"

This is happening with more than one file.

Any solutions appreciated.

e.g. How do i “repair” documents?
e.g. And What is the Text Recovery Converter and where do i find it?

Thanks!

That seems to be a different issue. It has been suggested that the problem (ie files not opening in WORD) may be an effect of saving and working in the files as .docs on AOO over a few months with many incremental changes (which is simply a matter of convenience for me as 99% of the people i need to share documents with use Word and it has also be part of the transition from using WORD for me).

I have no problems opening these files in AOO. I had to recreate the files as Word .docs by pasting the text into new Word .docs - although that was not a 100$ satisfactory solution as all the endnotes i had created in AOO .doc are instantly converted to roman numerals and cannot apparently be altered to standard numbers.
