Not wishing to go all fangirly here, but I joined the site a few days ago to find help with something I am currently working on.

I have previous experience with various dialects of BASIC but until I started reading and really trying to understand some code written by Marc Sabatella I had always thought that OOBasic and by extension Visual Basic were beyond my abilities.

Since joining, so far, I have found everything I needed to develop the project. The difficult bit has been learning the right terms to search on!

Welcome to the forums, and I'm glad you've had success so far.
Trying different words for search terms can be frustrating. One key word you might keep in mind is [Solved] as this is a keyword that is applied to the topic line after a query has been resolved.
If you ever can't find something, by all means, post a query in the forum and one (or more) people will respond.

There is no RTFM here. We know that sometimes right keywords are not easy to find so if the answer is already available, we point to the relevant discussion.
