The Apache OpenOffice project is pleased to announce the immediate
availability of OpenOffice 4.1.0. You can download it from our

Apache OpenOffice 4.1 is a minor update with many bugfixes and 2 major
improvements. It's the first version where we have the
iAccessibility2 support integrated and available. A very huge step
forward to better support disabled users especially on Windows. The
second improvement is the switch to 64 bit on MacOS. A long
and overdue "must do" shift forward to support newer APIs and platforms
on MacOS.

And AOO 4.1.0 increases again the number of supported languages which is
now 38. The supported languages are Asturian, Bulgarian, Czech, Danish,
German, Greek, English (GB + US), Spanish, Basque, Finnish, French,
Scots Gaelic, Galician, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese,
Khmer, Korean, Lithuanian, Norwegian Bokmal, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese,
Portuguese Brazil, Russian, Slovak, Serbian Cyrillic, Swedish, Tamil,
Thai, Turkish, Vietnamese, Chinese (Simplified + Traditional).

Apache OpenOffice 4.1.0 will be a further key milestone to continue the
success of OpenOffice.

If you are undertaking any mission critical task, such as a thesis or term paper or a life's work novel, think carefully of whether it is wise to install AOO 4.1 at this time. It has been extensively tested, but every year we see anguished cries for help from users who have upgraded their version of OpenOffice and run into problems for whatever reason. It is your decision! If you decide to upgrade, please have multiple backups of any critical work.

Is there ever going to be a 64 bit Windows version?

It would be better if the release announcement had been proofread before it was sent out. An announcement with so many obvious and basic grammatical errors doesn't do justice to all the good work that has gone into the release.

That's not bad grammar, it's the Hamburg dialect of English. OpenOffice is supported by many people who speak English as a second (or third or ...) language. This does lead to some strange phrasing sometimes. Some might say it doesn't look professional but it don't make me no never mind.

As someone that works with the newspaper industry, even proofreaders, spell checkers and grammar checkers goof up.
In the long run, there can be, and quite often are, mistakes made with any kind of announcement.
Personally, I'd rather have the people that are working on AOO continue their great work, than worry about grammatical errors in a release.
