Copying Calc cells containing images

Hello

I am trying to copy (Ctrl + C) from a Calc sheet a region of cells, some of which contain embedded images, to a Writer document.
I paste it selecting the Calc option (Ctrl + Shift + V).
The images are not pasted and same thing happens when pasting to a Calc sheet too.
I have found a few related topics in the forum with no solution.
Is this procedure unsupported by Calc and Writer?

Thank you in advance
Regards

Linux
Centos 5.9

That should work if the image is entirely within the selected cells. Try it making sure that the selected cells completely surround all the images you wish to copy.

You are right this does work, i didn't know about this technicality.

Unfortunately the image in originating Calc sheet is over a set of merged cells (that appear as one).
I guess, based on your info, that this copy is impossible.
Is there any workaround?

Thanks.

I'm not sure I understand the situation, but I'm guessing you just want the merged cells copied with the image, and nothing outside. This is possible if the picture appears entirely within the merged range. To select the merged range, start with the cell pointer on it, hold SHIFT, and while holding it, arrow out 1 cell in any direction, then back. This selects the merged region, which you can then copy and paste as usual.

Hello.

I have attached two screenshots of the procedure.
The second is the original sheet in Calc and the first is the Writer document on which i paste the table.
This is actually a label i want to print.
As you can see i copy a wider region than just the merged cells containing the image.
Still the image does not get copied even though everything else does (i have removed text and numbers for personal reasons)

Thank you.

In the attached Calc file I have merged cells A21:B29 and pasted your avatar into the merged cells. I have added a yellow background to A21:E29. I can select A21:E29, then copy and Paste Special (Calc) into a Writer document, and i get the image.

Hello and thank you for your efforts.

Using your EAAN.ods file and Ctrl+c and Ctrl+Shift+v -> calc8 -> ok, region, color and text are pasted successfully.
Unfortunately the image is still not pasted in the Word document.

This is embarrassing. After saving and loading the Calc file again, I'm having the same problem. Stay tuned.
Edit: This is weird. If I insert a new column before column A, then delete it,then it works again.

Ha ha ha.
I must say i am enjoying this post more than any other.

Your workaround actually works for me too (insert and delete column)
Edit: Actually for unknown reasons this doesn't always work.
A similar workaround is to alter any dimension of the picture(s) and set it back to original (NOT with undo).
This is ofcourse very annoying.
 Edit: Dimension, NOT Position.
Edit: OK. The most efficient workaround (100% successful and fastest) i have found is to utilize the Side Tool Bar set on Properties view.
Make the panel visible (View -> Side Bar).
Choose Properties view (Side Bar -> Properties).
Tick image with mouse (on the bottom of the panel appears a "Position And Size" tool set)
Flip image horizontally or vertically (Side Bar -> Position And Size -> Flip).
Reflip the image to original state (NOT with undo).
Repeat for all images.
Now you can copy cells including the images to a Writer document.
