[Solved] OpenOffice 3.0 beta and pdfimport plugin
Thank you in advance to those that may help me out. I just downloaded the 3.0 beta on my XP machine it runs fine. I downloaded the PDF import plugin (the whole reason why i "upgraded" to 3.0) but i cannot install it, shows up as if windows doesn't recognize the file. any ideas?

You don't install extensions through Windows, you install them from OOo itself. See Tools > Extension Manager > My Extensions > Add, select the extension file you downloaded. That should be about it.
Are there no installation instructions on the extensions web page, where you downloaded it from?

Re: OpenOffice 3.0 beta and pdfimport plugin
ah kk. that was my problem before, i had 2.4 installed and it showed a puzzle piece icon graphic and allowed me to attempt to install using windows, guess they changed that for 3.0. but thank you it is installed now (it went thru the install process and i assume it is), i tried opening the pdf file i have saved but i still get the "open with" prompt
. the extensions page where i got the plugin doesnt have any instructions yet about this specific one.
when i try to open the PDF doc i get "[filepath and name] is not a valid win32 application."
thank you so far for your help.

OpenOffice.org 3.0 beta does not associate files intentionally.AngelusLocke wrote: that was my problem before, i had 2.4 installed and it showed a puzzle piece icon graphic and allowed me to attempt to install using windows, guess they changed that for 3.0
The article "PDF Import and Hybrid PDF extension" explains this. You have to open from within OpenOffice.org.but thank you it is installed now (it went thru the install process and i assume it is), i tried opening the pdf file i have saved but i still get the "open with" prompt. the extensions page where i got the plugin doesnt have any instructions yet about this specific one.
