I have installed Calc on my Android tablet. Its a Samsung Galaxy 7" tablet with Android 4.2.2.
I am finding a "broad, general usability" problem, and want to know if others see it, or if there is something i could do.
When i open Calc on the Android tablet, it does open. The grid itself is usable, with my finger i can select a cell, I can scroll, I can enter data, etc.
What i cannot do is select any menu ("File", "Edit", etc), or any of the toolbar buttons, or buttons in a dialog ("OK", "Cancel", etc). All of those "barely work". That is, if i try usually about 10 to 15 times, i might eventually get a menu to drop down or a toolbar button to work. I thought it might be something about them being small, maybe i am not hitting it right, or something. But, it is more than that. When i do finally get something on the menus to work, lets say it brings up a dialog. Then, in the dialog, i can usually select stuff, such as a dropdown if there is one, or type in a text box. But, when i go to hit the button to dismiss the dialog ("OK", "Cancel", etc), those buttons are very big, and they behave the same as described. They simply do not work, though if i repeat many, many times, eventually i can usually get them to work.
Based on my experience so far, I would have to choose to declare this "not usable" (as opposed to "usable"). So, i am just wondering, is there something odd about what I am experiencing in my case on this tablet? Are others using OO Calc on Android tablets, and finding it usable? Can anybody suggest anything that i might do to correct this or to investigate it further?
Thanks,
Tom

I personally would not try any form of formatting or critical work on a 7inch tablet. It might be possible on a 10inch tablet, but I'm old-fashioned and prefer a netbook/laptop.

Actually, what i am trying to do, that is proving extremely difficult, is File...Open. First, as i described, i have to try usually like 10-15+ times to get the file menu to drop down (using the "open" toolbar icon is even more difficult!). In the File menu I can usually select the "Open" item pretty easily. After i finally get the file I want selected (difficult), then it is nearly impossible to click on the button in the Dialog that says "Open". Sometimes the button is just dead, and other times the button looks in the UI like it did get clicked, but still, nothing happens, the dialog does not dismiss and the file does not open. So, that is a pretty basic issue that really blocks me from getting started.
Thanks,
Tom

Hoped to revive this. Does not seem like too popular a topic. I wonder if anybody out there is actually using the Android version regularly. Could you say anything about it. Also, are you able to do File...Open, and then "OK" with the dialog that comes up?
Thanks,
Tom

I use AndrOpenOffice. Yes, I can open file using the dialog.

Just could i ask, in general do you not see the overall issue that i noted. You can use this dialog, you can pull down menus, and use other dialogs, etc. I am on a Samsung Galaxy 7" tablet, but basically the UI seems mostly "frozen" and the menus and button pushes within dialogs don't respond to taps (until you do it many times). (But, note the sheet itself works, i can select different cells and enter data). Was trying to see if there is perhaps something wrong with my device or OO setup, as vs. that this is a more general and pervasive issue with Andorid platform. Thanks!

No, I see no real issue using AndrOpenOffice on my smartphone (Huawei P2). Except, of course, for the fact that a 4.7" screen is not comfortable for spreadsheet editing: you have to be very focused to tap on the right item
