[Solved] Can't Download/Run AOO 4 Installer From Windows 8

I have been trying to download Openoffice 4.0.0 with a brand new Vaio Pro 13 with Microsoft Windows 8.
I either corrupts or gives an error when I get to the install stage (from double clicking the file in Windows Explorer).
I tried downloading and it worked perfectly onto an older XP machine, so I saved that one to Google Drive and then downloaded that to the new machine. No luck!
Hope yiou can help folks - 10 hours of trying is rather wearying to the point of thinking of going back to bloody rip-off merchants, bloatware, MSN!
Regards,
Burger

How does it "corrupt"? What is the error message? Did you download from
http://www.openoffice.org/download/ ?

Good to hear from you, Bill.
Yes, from Sourceforge
This is the latest:
Apache_OpenOffice_4.0.0_Win_x86_install_en-US.exeUnknown network error.

Ps Bill,
Just downloaded and received this sequence of events and messages (which has happened many times):
"Windows Smartscreen prevented and unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk.
More info: Publisher: Unknown Publisher
Apache_Openoffice 4.0.0....
UserControl Panel popped-up:
Program Apache.Openoffice etc etc
Do you want to allow the following...
..Unknown Publisher...
Yes / No
Clicked Yes
NIS Error pop-up panel
Installer integrity check has failed. Common causes include
incomplete download and damaged media. Contact the installer's
author to obtain a new copy.
More information at
http://nsis.sf.net/NSIS_Error
Going to this link and Googling it doesn't explain anything or help. (I have tried changing the file name etc without success. I have also tried loading it from Google Drive where I put it having downloaded it successfully from an XP machine - I tested that the installer worked fine on the XP machine first).
My left field concern is that Windows is blocking it because it isn't certified by Windows (?)

I don't know why you would be getting the Smartscreen message when downloading from SourceForge. I've never seen it when downloading from SourceForge, and a forum search doesn't find any reports of it. You could try changing the mirror when downloading from SourceForge or download using Firefox instead of Internet Explorer. If that doesn't help, someone on a Windows 8 forum might know more about why you would be getting that message.

Thx Bill but I'm using Chrome & it won't show/allow me to choose a diff mirror.
Btw, what is a 'Smartscreen' usually used for?
So, basically a new Bail can't use OpenOffice ! Hrmph!

If Chrome won't show or allow you to change to a different mirror, try a different browser. I've changed the mirror more than once using Internet Explorer.

Thx for your efforts, Bill.
It worked via Firefox.
(Ps I still got the Smartscreen notification too, altho it said something about network connectivity not enabling it to scan the program, so did I want to run it anyway?)
Rgds,
Burger

Try turning off Smartscreen. If you have downloaded from SourceForge, the file should be OK. Go to the Start Screen and search for smartscreen in Settings.
