Just upgraded to V 4.0.0 and now I can't re-size the comment box. In the previous version I could drag the end of it to make it longer, but now the size cannot be altered, any ideas?

Seems to work fine for me.

Have you activated the comment (Right-click > Show Comment)?

I see, that's how you do it, from the "show comment" function. In the past I could re-size when editing the comment, but not in 4.0, thanks for your help.

Had the same problem with resizing comment box, used the show comment and now the comment will not close. Even tried saving the file, closing the file and reopening only to find my comment already opened without any right mouse click....

Any ideas what I could be doing wrong??

Denise, you have to "Show Comment" a second time in order to hide the comment. Not intuitive.

Thank you for your reply....I stumbled across the show comment to hide comment after I saved the file, reopened and the comment was still open...

Previous Comments have only been for Apache OpenOffice 4.0.
Using Mac PowerBook Pro Running OS X 18.9.4 and Apache OpenOffice 4.1.0
Existing Comment boxes presented as they were left when previously dragged to required size.
Extra typing does not expand existing frames.
Copying contents - deleting "Comment" - inserting "Comment" and pasting which only produces a tall narrow box.
Guide still indicates frame can be dragged.
Have some very long comments on a particular Calc item.
Struggling with the Apache OpenOffice 4.1.0 version.
"Earlier" versions seemed OK but may not have upgraded the particular Calc sheet for, perhaps, a couple of years.

Try to reset your OpenOffice user profile, it might help.

Prob is with 4.1.0 Mac Powerbook Pro OS X 10.9.4. Calc "Coment" canot be rezized. Crated new Calc test spreadsheet with one cell with a "Coment". Saved it to USB stick as Microsoft.xls loaded onto old Mac running OpenOfice version 3. "Coment" box presented with attachement markers at each corner and middle of each side. Adjusted size recopied to USB stick and back on Powerbook revised size present but still can't resize. Ther is a "Hand" presented over "Coment" box which has no function.

I was having same problem after updating. Creating a new user profile did not work.

Found out you have to right click on the box and 'show comment' then you can edit the box size. Finally turn off 'show comment'

Running version 4.1.1 on MacBook Pro OS X 0.9.5 and have this very annoying problem. Have desire to attach some quite long comments which fit more comfortably in a wider box. No mouse so there is no right click available - may be a simulation but am not aware of it.

Checked via help - two finger tap on track pad simulates right click - brings up on screen menu box which which facilitates selection of "insert comment" - (eventually) got a comment box which had all the "handles" - seems only available if "Show Comment" has been selected followed by a "tap" inside the box - (Select "Show Comment" again to hide comment). [Solved} but it has taken some time. Now on 4.1.1 and OS X 10.9.5
