Getting Started With Form

Post by dcgall »

I'm ABSOLUTELY new to Base. I'm a wiz at Excel & VBA but I'm having trouble even starting a form in Calc. All my "userform" buttons in Calc are grey'd out so I don't know how to begin. Any suggestions on beginning Base & Forms references? I'm coming up short. thanks,

Perhaps you have it open in read only mode which is what happens when you double click on a form and this is the mode used for actually using the form rather than designing it.

Instead right click and choose edit to start designing the form - you should now see all the various buttons and toolbars coloured and now active.

Also, forms are usually Writer documents. I'm not sure you can create a form in Calc, precisely. Although you can use at least some form controls in Calc.

It would help if you could tell us:

-what you need your form to do
-what version of OpenOffice.org you are using
-what Operating System (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Ubuntu Linux, etc.)
-What the status bar at the bottom of your main database window says (e.g. "ebedded database" and "hsqldb engine")
