Every time I turn on my machine Open Office will open up over all other programs, dominating the screen

How do I let Open Office know that I would like to open the program up when I need it versus closing the OO window every time?

Change to Aoo 3.4.1, or go to /Tools /Options /OpenOffice.org : Memory and uncheck "enable systray quickstarter"
