[Solved] Problem of Wizard aborting Writer

Whenever I try to use a wizard in Writer (File/Wizards/Letter), Writer terminates immediately.

Then, when I reopen Writer I get a Document Recovery window. On clicking Start Recovery I usually get Recovery Failed before Writer starts.

Why is the wizard not working?

I believe at least some of the wizards require a working Java; maybe there is some incompatibility with whatever Java (JRE) you have installed?

You can try under Tools > Options > OOo > Java to see if OOo can find a working JRE.

There's one listed from Oracle Corp., version 1.7.0_09

However, it was not "selected", i.e. the radio button was empty. So I clicked the button to select and tried the wizard again... and it worked!
