A document created on Windows XP with OpenOffice.org2.4 has the fonts DejaVu Sans Condensed, DejaVu Light and DejaVu Serif Condensed. The same version of openoffice on Fedora Core 5 or Fedora Core 7 does not have these fonts listed in the font menu. The fonts are in the directory /opt/openoffice2.4/share/fonts/truetype.
Are these fonts supposed to be available on Linux?

The fonts should be available. If no one has a more specific remedy, you could try renaming your user settings folder so that OO creates a new one when re-started.

Re: DejaVu Condensed and Light do not show up in font list
Thanks for the suggestion, but I noticed yesterday that I had 3 .openoffice directories in my home directory and so I deleted all of them. This did not fix the problem. I also copied all of the DejaVu fonts to $HOME/.fonts from /opt/openoffice.org2.4/share/fonts/truetype and ran fc-cache. Now all the DejaVu fonts appear in the OpenOffice font list. They all display properly.
Not really sure what is going on. There must be a bug, but I can't really explain it. If you look at an earlier post I mentioned that I had to use a new version of freetype to get the serifs to display. Now with the fonts in $HOME/.fonts I no longer need to use the updated freetype and the serifs display properly.

I wonder if one of the font cache files was out of sync?I also copied all of the DejaVu fonts to $HOME/.fonts ... and ran fc-cache. Now all the DejaVu fonts appear in the OpenOffice font list. They all display properly.
You normally don't need to run fc-cache after you move font files--fontconfig (or something else) watches the font directories for changes and updates automatically. You do need to re-start OOo, however.
I don't see "DejaVu Condensed" in the toolbar font list, but it appears in the list of font faces under "DejaVu" in the character or paragraph style dialogs.
Do you see any difference between DejaVu and DejaVu Condensed?
