Wing dings in displayed formula

Post by leptonjim »

I'm new to equation editor and slow to learn. When I use the editor and I do not quote things like the "=" sign or a "(" in the editor, I get some wing ding in the displayed formula. Even when I use the "times" operator, I get a wing ding instead of the stylized "x". Anybody know how to fix this?

Also, is there any way to change the font type or size in a displayed formula or to scale the formula itself?

Hi and welcome to the forum!

For the font, see this query for example. But you can change it directly with the Format menu.

For the inverted "?", it seems to come from expression that should be used in a special context or with other arguments. As soon as you close the parenthesis, it changes to the correct display of parenthesis. Or as soon as there is something on both sides of the equal sign, it's correct.
If you still have problems, can you upload a screenshot or a file showing what you're trying to do (see How to attach a document here)?

Please add '[Solved]' at the beginning of your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.
