[Solved] Problem after Forced Quit
[Solved] Problem after Forced Quit
SOLVED Apparently, when I opened OO to get into the program, the program was forced to quit for some reason. Now when I try to open it, I get an error message saying that the program was forced to close and asks if I want to restore the windows. However, no matter which option I choose (restore or non-restore), the restore button starts flashing as if I choose that but nothing ever happens. The error message stays on the screen. In addition, while all that is going on, the program does open to the beginning page that asks me what I want to do, such as what function I want or what file I want to open. I can open a function or file and it will come up but the only things that work are the icons, none of the selections under the menu itself work. In addition, I can't close the program because that option on the menu is grayed out. The only way to get out of the program is to do a forced quit from the main Mac menu. The program obviously got corrupted somehow but how do I fix it? I've turned my PC off and back on. I've uninstalled both the old and new versions of OO. This only happens under my user name, not my wife's. Any suggestions?

Well, I did what it said but it still doesn't work. Any other ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Problem after Forced Quit
Well, using your instructions, I dabbled a bit more with it and solved it. I created another user and opened up OO on it which created all of those files that support OO. I then copied Openoffice/3/users from that Library and pasted it into my Library on my user account after deleting all of my files in that category. When starting up the program, the old problem was solved but I got a new error message saying the User name from /3/user I pasted in differed from the name in my regular user account and it might cause confusion, which was understandable. Sure enough, when I tested a saved file, it wasn't saved in my area or the documents of the other user I created. So, I deleted everything from Openoffice/3 on down the tree to let OO create my personal user files again. That seemed to do the trick as when I created two test files, everything was saved where it was supposed to be. I then deleted the other user account and I'm good to go as they say. Let me know if anyone is unsure about anything I just explained. Thanks again for your help with this.

Are you using Mac OS X ver.10,4 as stated in you signature? Your problem sounds like a know problem in OS X ver.10.7. If so, there is an easy fix for the problem, and it may re-occur.
