If there was a previous OpenOffice or LibreOffice on your computer, then you can try removing your User Profile
[http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/ ... 74&t=12426
It is not unknown, although rare, for an initial User Profile to be corrupt. A new User Profile is generated on next OpenOffice startup.

If that doesn't work, then you may need to remove all traces of OOo/LibO; I use Synaptic and find removing openoffice-core and/or libreoffice-core is sufficient.

I have AOO 3.4 running on three Ubuntu 11.10 machines without problems; I removed as above, without attempting to run old/new versions in parallel.

Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: ooobasis3.4-en-US
when trying to install the language packs
even though it is already installed! (ooobasis3.4-en-us_3.4.0-1_i386.deb)
When trying to start without these installed: Fatal exception: Signal 6

How have you installed AOO? Through your package manager (or dpkg) or with the script (better avoid it)?
Try to remove everything related to OOo and LibO and then install the debs: [Ubuntu] Installing OOo on Debian and Co.

Pooh, got it!
Had to use this command:
sudo dpkg -i *.deb

Tried with gdebi one by one, but that resulted in the said errors.

Thank you!
