LibreOffice 3.5.2 not opening .doc extensions

Post by blang008 »

Some background: I edited the .msi so that libreoffice would open .doc, .xls, .ppt. I have Register_No_MSO_Types set to 1 because if Office is installed, I don't want LibreOffice taking over it's file extensions. It was working fine, but all of a sudden if you try to open a .doc or .xls it gives you the "Windows cannot open this file" error and wants you to choose a program to open with. Any suggestions??

Something has destroyed the relevant File Associations. Right click in turn on a sample file of each type and select Open With, drop down the list to the program you want to open that type of file, there should be an "always open this type of file with this program" checkbox, which check. then OK out. All should now be well.

Yeah, it will work fine that way, but how do I keep my users from not having to click that?

If you really "have" any users, YOU should know how to administrate their Windows boxes.
Please, edit this topic's initial post and add "[Solved]" to the subject line if your problem has been solved.
