Glue point on circle

Post by 051r15 »

I would like to draw the diagram similar to this one http://img152.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... 585aa2.png
Problem is can't insert glue points on circle under the 45 degrees so i can't crate connectors between nodes C1 and C3 for example.

What problem did you have? It seems to work fine for me.

Did you read this thread: http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/ ... =11&t=5270 ?

If you have a problem adding glue points exactly where you want them, you probably have "snap to grid" enabled. Disable that, either globally by menu selection View - Grid - Snap to grid, or incidently by holding down the ctrl key while placing a glue point.

If your problem is that the connectors won't exit at the desired angle, use the "Straight" connector type. The three other types will always exit an object at 90 degree angles. (I.e. horizontally or vertically.)

This is the solution to my problem. Thank you for help!

I have another problem now. How can I, once I'm finished with drawing the whole diagram, align the whole diagram to the horizontal center of the page? I would also like to ask, how can i import diagram into my open office writer document?

Thanks for help!

First make all objects into one (group):
Ctrl+A, then Ctrl+G

Then align to center:
Menu item Modify - Alignment - Centered

Ungroup (if you want):
Ctrl-Alt+shift+G

Select the graphic, copy&paste (Ctrl+A, ctrl+C, then switch to Writer and Ctrl+V)
... or you can save your drawing, then Insert - Object - OLE object ..., select Create from file and browse to your file.

Yow! I wouldn't have thought of that--Nice catch!
How can I... align the whole diagram to the horizontal center of the page?
Edit > Select All
Modify > Group
Modify > Alignment > (vertical center)

If only one object is selected, then any alignment is done relative to the page.

Note: while this always aligns the geometric center of the group to the page, it often "looks wrong" due to weighting by our visual systems. For something like aligning a diagram, I often find it to be easier and quicker to do it "by eye", unless there's a need for geometric precision.

Copy/paste. I suggest you also group all the objects of the drawing before you do this.

If plain copy/paste doesn't working out, try Edit > Paste Special > As GDI metafile.

Thank you both for help. Just one more question :) How can I decrease size of arrows in connectors?

To edit a single connector: select the connector, then menu item Format - Line..., the tab Line. Under Arrow styles you can select "arrow" (or other terminator) style and size for each end of the connector.

If you want to do it for all connectors, modify the default graphics style.
Press F11 to toggle the "stylist" ("Styles and Formatting" tool). Right click on the Default entry (it should be the one selected unless you have used other styles for your objects.
You'll find many more tabs here, but the arrow settings are under the same Line tab as above.
