[Solved] How to Automatically resize rows to fit text

I would like every row in my spread sheet to automatically re-size when i put more that one line of text in it.
if you hit "ctrl + enter" you go to the next line in any given cell, when i do that it would be great if said cell would automatically re-size instead of having to go to the row reference # and re-size it manually.
thanks in advance

In my case the row size increases automatically. I don't know whether the alignment settings have anything to do with it. I am attaching a snapshot of what I see in F11 > right-click 'default' and select 'modify' then select 'alignment' tab.

nope that didnt do it, i wonder why your does and mine doesnt?
when you hit ctrl+enter, and type the next line, you can see it and your row increases in size?
try to put text into one cell and make the cell only big enough to fit one line of text, then hit ctrl+enter, type something else and then hit enter and see if it increases.

Once something is entered in a cell, Ctrl + Enter does nothing on my system. Perhaps you have discovered a bug. You really need someone else using Windows to verify the issue. The usual suspect otherwise is the "profile folder."

The behaviour I get on windows 7 is the row resizes if it is set to default or optimal, but doesn't resize if the row height is set manually.

control + enter goes to the next line of text within a cell, like this
tregrad....ctrl + enter
tregrad....ctrl + enter
tregrad
all three tregrads would be in one cell and the cell should resize automatically.

The question asked was whether Ctrl + Enter worked AFTER data was entered in the cell. Enter your first line. THEN try to add further lines using Ctrl + Enter. That key binding only works if you begin your entry with the first line.

Select the row > right click > 'Row Height'
you can change the row height

Here is an option that may work
1) In CALC select the rows you want to auto adjust
2) Right click on the row number area and select row height from the drop down, this opens row height dialog box
3) Uncheck the "default height" check box
4) The rows that you selected should now all auto adjust to the text entered

I was inspired by a previous answer.
I'm using Ubuntu now.
Select everything (Ctrl + A) then right click on a certain row number -> select "Optimal Row Height" -> uncheck "Default Value" and it works.

You were really close. The way to get all your text to automatically optimise is: Right click, Format Cells, Alignment, Click " Wrap text automatically". Done.
