When installing on my PC laptop. I get a message to close LibreOffice or the Quick Start. When I click OK the wizard closes and tells me installation was not completed.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Open the task manager and make sure there is no soffice.bin process running. If so, just kill it and retry.

Please add '[Solved]' at the beginning of your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.

Hi!

I have the same problem.

There is no such process or program working on my PC. It looks fairly as a bug.

FYI: Windows 7/64. Already used LO 3.4 . I do not have the Quick Launch icon. I do not have any LO or OOo process or program running when I start the setup.

Regards

Patrick

Open TaskManager and close any soffice processes running on TaskManager's Processes tab. You may need to be logged on as Administrator to see everything.

same problem here, while trying to upgrade from LibreOffice 3.3 to 3.5 - and as indicated by desaunay: no soffice or any other process or service running related to LibreOffice/OOo/... and yes, logged in as admin and using "show processes from all users". I also get the same error message when trying to uninstall 3.3

I'd suggest you start in Safe Mode and see if that will allow you uninstall LibO. Then restart and install the new version.

Try using Revo Free Uninstaller http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uni ... nload.html to remove 3.3 then install 3.5.
Edit:
See this link that recommends uninstalling versions earlier than 3.4.5 or upgrading to 3.4.5 first. http://gladiator-antivirus.com/forum/in ... ibreoffice.

Helo there,

I was logged as an administrator.
There is no soffice or whatever process running.

I will not uninstall the previous version, as I would lose all my settings.
As well, I will not start in safe mode or whatever workaround. It is a technical, complicated way for me. I wil just wait for the new version.

To be very frank:
I do not need this new version urgently.
I just found out this bug, and signaled it, so that a skilled person can signal the bug.
I will not report the bug, as I did this kind of things some times ago, and found the process quite frustrating (this is another subject. I do not want to raise a discussion here on this point)
So, let us say my report was just a comment.

Thanks anyway for the suggestions.

Read the LO 3.5.0 Release Notes. In Windows, the upgrade from versions prior to 3.4.5 may fail. There are two options given: uninstall the older version or upgrade to 3.4.5 before upgrading to 3.5.0. It's a known issue, so no bug report is needed.

If the upgrade were working, your previous version would be automatically uninstalled before the new version is installed. In this case the automatic uninstall has failed, which can be overcome by a manual uninstall. You won't lose all your settings if you don't delete your user profile.

Did it.

Removed 3.4. Installed 3.5

Lost a couple of things: hostory, autocompletion, default format...
It is not the same.
