On the vertical scroll bar, in Writer, there's no scroll arrow. It's tough to describe easily. There's the main 'slider' then the up and down double arrows for page up and page down. Only my old version of LO (3.3.2) there's a single scroll arrow for up and down (black triangle). With the new version, it's difficult for me to scroll a page (not page up or down) with one hand. I can hold the slider and move up and down within a page but it requires two hands. I just want my old single, black triangle scroll arrow. Any way to get it without rolling back the version of LO I'm using? Thanks always for any help.
[Solved] Vertical scroll arrows in LibO
[Solved] Vertical scroll arrows in LibO
Long time user but have never had a problem with LO. I just installed Mint 12 (best distro out IMO) on my new computer. It's got LO 3.4.4 installed by default. I copied all my files over to the new computer but have found something that makes LO awkward for me. I'm hoping there's a fix.
(Note - I've done a quick Google and the only problems I see are in Calc not Writer)

Mint 12 release notes say:
I don't know if this will solve your problem, but it is worth trying.Overlay scrollbars
The overlay scrollbars were removed in Linux Mint 12. You can activate them by installing the "overlay-scrollbar" and "liboverlay-scrollbar-0.1-0" packages and by restarting your computer.

Re: Vertical scroll arrows in LibO
Rory,
Thanks but didn't change anything. My problem is I read stuff like that and I'm not sure what programs it affects. So, I don't do the changes. I did this suggested change but it still doesn't give me what I want. I like to keep the latest versions of software I use a lot. I may just have to downgrade LO to get the scroll arrows back. Thanks anyway.

Re: Vertical scroll arrows in LibO
Did you install Mint with the Gnome desktop? I just installed Mint 12 for testing and LO has the normal scrollbars with a handle and arrows at each end just like in Windows. LO doesn't use the overlay toolbars, so Installing the overlay scrollbar packages shouldn't make any difference. The overlay toolbars eliminate the arrows anyway, leaving only a handle which doesn't appear until the mouse pointer is moved over the scrollbar.
Re: Vertical scroll arrows in LibO
Bill,
Thanks for the response. I am running Cinnamon desktop (I think that's what it's called) and had a date format problem. I'm beginning to think my missing scroll arrows are a result of cinnamon as well. Not sure if I should mark this as 'solved' so I'm leaving it open for a few more days.

Re: Vertical scroll arrows in LibO
I installed Cinnamon 1.2 (which was recently released), then logged out and logged back in a Cinnamon session. The scrollbars are still OK in Writer. Do you have an older version of Cinnamon? I read that 1.2 is the first fully stable version.
Have you tried resetting your LO user profile or reinstalling LO?

Re: Vertical scroll arrows in LibO
Bill, nope to both. I'll try them both now and post results. Thanks. [Edit: Tried both changes and still now line scroll arrow] Thinking may have to downgrade to older version of LO.

Re: Vertical scroll arrows in LibO
I've found that the arrows will disappear on the scrollbars when the MATE desktop is selected on the login screen. On the login screen, click the sprocket on the login box. If MATE is selected, change the selection to Cinnamon or one of the Gnome options and log in.
Re: Vertical scroll arrows in LibO
Bill, Nope, Cinnamon was selected. I did discover that with MATE I can't double tap on my touchpad. I have to use the touchpad buttons. I went through all the desktops and the arrows don't come back with any of them. I guess I'll just have to downgrade my version of LO. Thanks anyway.

Re: Vertical scroll arrows in LibO
I'm not sure that downgrading LO would change anything. Using a custom theme can also cause the arrows to be removed. They did disappear in Cinnamon when I went to Advanced Settings and changed the GTK+ Theme from Adwaita to Mint-X. See this discussion on the Mint Forums:
No arrows on scrollbar

Re: Vertical scroll arrows in LibO[SOLVED]
BIll, you are the man! I guess you just have to know the vocabulary to use to find the info you need. When I changed the GTK setting to any other (in Advanced Settings), the arrows came back. You got rid of my only problem I had left with Mint 12.
It's perfect now. Thanks a lot for the help.
